Alisha Butler will join the College of Education Studies in January 2022 as the inaugural Provost’s Equity Fellow at Wesleyan. She is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Maryland, College Park and a 2020 National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellow.
On her website, Butler describes her research as “draw[ing] on interdisciplinary perspectives to investigate the effects of gentrification on urban public schools”. She is also interested in “the geography of educational opportunity and the politics of parent engagement”.
